Pazhamudhircholai Murugan Temple, also referred to be “Solaimalai Murugan temple” is situated near the city of Madurai, Tamilnadu. It is one amongst the “Arupadaiveedu temples” devoted to Lord Muruga. Pazhamudhircholai Temple is located atop a hill covered with dense forest of about 19 KMs from the Temple city of Madurai. This hill would also be named as Idabagiri or vrishabhadri. Azhagar Kovil, one of 108 Divya Desams is found very close to this Murugan Temple.

The chief deity of this temple is Lord Murugan, who stands majestically with four hands, having Goddess Valli and Deivayanai on both the sides. There is also a separate shrine for Lord Ganesha. This seems to be the only temple among Six Abodes of Lord Murugan in which he blesses his disciples together with his spouses Goddess Valli as well as deivayani. A statue of Goddess Rakkayi Amman is found as the Guardian diety. Noopura Ganga is the Sthala Theertham where devotees take bath and blessed with health and wealth. It is believed that this sacred spring has originated from the anklet of Lord Vishnu. The Sthala Vriksha of this temple is a blackberry temple, which bears ripened fruits only during Skanda Sashti festival. The silambar river, which flows near to this temple will give a feel of calmness and privacy.
