History of Golden Temple

Golden Temple Vellore is located at Malaikodi, which is just 8 Km from Vellore bus stop and very close to Vellore fort. The temple was built by Sri Narayani Peedam with pure gold that glitters in the hot sun exposing a spectacular view for the tourists. The golden temple is devoted to goddess Lakshmi bounded by beautifully landscaped area spreading about 100 acres of land. It is the second golden temple in India, next to Amristar. Sripuram temple gives spiritual experience to each and every tourists and its natural ambience magnetize travelers from almost all parts of the world.

Tourist attractions:

From artificial fountains located in the entrance to Ardha Mandapam and Vimanam, each feature receives the attention of devotee. Every single detail of gold covering boasts its own prominence because they are framed on the basis of Vedas. Tourists and devotees can go in & exit out via two major pathways. Together with this major pathway, there are about 18 other entry points found behind the mandapam. These 18 entrances are built to symbolize 18 characters of human mind. Vellore Golden Temple, one of the famous Temples in tamilnadu is designed based on Sri Chakra Star lines and so, it looks as a Sri Chakra if you viewed from upper side.

Each and every corner of the golden temple speaks its beauty and serenity. Modern lights together with classical stone lights make evening even more bright-full in the golden temple in vellore. Shri MahaLakshmi Narayani Temple has more than 3000 trees around to give soft blowing wind. Even, the painting, decorative arches and mandapams are also in golden color to make the golden temple in tamilnadu glitter forever. Opposite to Mother shrine, there is a traditional lamp with 27 feet tall and 10 storey tiers. It has enough space for lighting up to thousand lamps. Also, there are sculptures of Mother Lakshmi, Sarawathi and Durga in the meadows of temple with artificial falls and hills.

Operating time: 4.00 am – 8.00 pm

Entry fee: No fee for normal darshan.

For quick darshan – Rs. 250, camera and mobile phones are prohibited inside the temple premises.

Dress code: Only decent outfit is allowed. Not to wear lungies, short pants, Bermudas and midi
